This is the Good Shepherd. You may have been hurt in your past by people in authority that you trusted in your life..such as a pastor, or a teacher, or even your own parents. People above you that you trusted to care for you and to guide you through life's nastiest days. But then they abused their power and either gave you something you didn't need, or they didn't give you enough of what you did need.
But Jesus is the good shepherd. He holds you in his hands and never lets go. He doesn't micromanage your life as if he was some harsh critic that is always looking at your mistakes. He keeps you safe from your enemies, even if you don't feel like you need protection at the moment. He knows you on a deep, intimate level and will always love you and sustain you. God is good. Let's learn how to be his sheep and openly receive his blessings and love. I mean, it is undeserved but freely given. We cannot earn his love and acceptance. So let's believe that we are worth it. We are worthy of taking such a gift in his eyes.
Drawn for a friend at church who is battling some of the same things I am battling. Hope this touches your heart.
