DFH no. 27

Dear Future Husband,

A lot has been happening in my life right now. And one of those things that I've been struggling with is condemning, self-hating thoughts.

Yesterday before church, I spent some quiet time with the Lord. I read from Psalm 35.

"A righteous man may have many troubles, but the LORD delivers him from them all;" -Psalm 35:19

As I read that, I thought: "I'm so not righteous. Well, I think I am..cause God has given me HIS righteousness...But...Then that would mean I am arrogant and prideful, and that I think I can do no wrong! Besides...I have made so many mistakes recently...I know God has forgiven me for them, but...I don't feel his forgiveness. I certainly do not act righteous."

I went to church and was blasted by the goodness of the Lord. I went up for prayer for this dilemma, and one of our prophetic leaders came to me. He put his hand on my head and told me very specifically:

"You. Are. Righteous! No more, it has to end today. You can't keep listening to those lies. Jesus has made you righteous when He died on that cross. His bruised, bloody and pierced hand was nailed to the cross so that YOUR hands would be clean, and that your hands would carry that authority and righteousness he paid for!"

I am crying now as I did then. It's a beautiful thing. That we ALL, we who are redeemed by the cross, carry righteousness.

We did NOTHING to earn it. We did nothing to be righteous. The Lord Jesus Christ has freely given us this gift, and has made us white as snow. Though our sins may be long, and though we still struggle, He calls us pure, white, and blameless in His eyes.

We can still mess up. We can still do some unrighteous things. As I was at church, the pastor even said, "Many of us think that in order to be deemed 'righteous' we have to be perfect.' Well, I'm here to tell you this morning that that is simply not true at all!"

It hit me hard...I feel so dirty all the time. I'm living on the other side of the cross when I should be living on the side of the Resurrection!!

And it Humbles us. It keeps us humble, knowing that His Robe of Righteousness is a GIFT-we could not ever be blameless before the Lord on our own merit. So the fears I have of becoming prideful or arrogant are basically ineffective. As my pastor said, we will still make mistakes. I am not above sinning, cause we all will struggle until our last breath. But should I fear sin? HEAVEN'S NO!!!! Jesus has defeated death! I need to remind myself of this...

I was fascinated by that idea, by that TRUTH. We are redeemed, we are dirty no more!!! What a priceless gift!! I drew this to remind myself, but also, somewhere, someday, to remind you also. No matter what sins we have committed, what troubles plague us, or what battles we wage, we are redeemed, forgiven, loved, and RIGHTEOUS. Blameless. The hands are significant. We have clean hands. We have authority only in Christ to heal the sick, cast out demons and make disciples in all the earth. He has Given it to us! Praise the Lord!!

One day, when we travel together, we shall see the goodness of the Lord in and through our lives and always remember His priceless gift and why it is important that all the WORLD may know the Love and Forgiveness of Christ!

And when we fail, which we will, we are reminded that

"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from ALL unrighteousness." -1 John 1:9

I hope I get to see you soon, husband! I've been getting fed by the Lord and encouraged by uplifting friends and family. But keep sending me those prayers! I'm praying for you!
